There are two purposes for this page. One is so that I have an outlet for my music. I don’t expect to get a “record deal” but I’d like other’s to hear my music. This is one way of doing it! The second purpose is for other musicians who are looking for information on how this whole song creation thing works. I don’t pretend to know everything but I do know that by talking to others within the recording industry, I’ve learned a lot. If I can pass anything along to any other amateur musicians, I’ll be happy.
All of my music to-date is self-produced within the comfort of my basement. I started playing guitar in ‘86 (12 years old) and currently own a Les Paul electric, Martin DC-15e acoustic, Ibanez bass, and a MIDI keyboard. I record using a M-Audio USB device, Logic Express–and an old old Mac G4. Some of my music is available on last.fm, http://www.last.fm/music/Tim+Rutherford. You will likely need to create a free account to hear my music. As time progresses, I’ll be posting “finished” pieces on last.fm while posting the noodles and “demos” on this page. If you want to hear the end-result, you’ll need to check out Last.fm.
